Americus, GA (November 9, 2021) – Around 10 a.m. on Monday morning, November 8, a two-vehicle collision with injuries occurred in Americus.
According to Sumter County officials, the accident happened at the intersection of US-19 and McLittle Bridge Road. Two vehicles were traveling in the area when they entered the intersection, forcefully colliding with each other. One of the vehicles was found off the side of the road in a ditch and the other was still in the roadway.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The vehicle inside the ditch had one person trapped inside, who had to be extricated by fire crews. The victim was then transported to the hospital by medical helicopter It is believed that one or more other victims were taken to local hospitals for injuries.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing at this time.
