Athens, GA (September 17, 2021) – At 1:36 p.m. on the afternoon of Thursday, September 16, a bicycle accident with injuries occurred in Athens.
According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident happened on Lumpkin Street around the area of Tate Center Pay Lot. A bicyclist was traveling in the area when the cyclist was struck by a passenger vehicle. The bicycle was damaged as a result of the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The bicyclist, who has not yet been identified, was injured in the accident. Their condition is not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
