Athens, GA (September 17, 2021) – At 10:23 a.m. on Thursday morning, September 16, a car crash occurred at an intersection in Athens.
According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident happened at the intersection of Carlton Street and D. W. Brooks Drive. Two vehicles were traveling in the area when they collided after entering the intersection. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. A passenger inside one of the vehicles, who has not yet been identified, was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Their current condition is not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing.
