Athens, GA (September 2, 2021) – At 12:52 p.m. on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 1, a car crash with injuries occurred at an intersection in Athens.
According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident happened at the intersection of Carlton Street and East Campus Road. Two or more vehicles were traveling in the area when they entered the intersection at the same time, forcefully colliding. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged due to the accident. They had to be removed from the area by a tow truck.
Paramedics and numerous other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One of the drivers, who has not yet been identified, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Their condition is not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
