Athens, GA (December 6, 2021) – At 4:45 p.m. on the afternoon of Saturday, December 4, a hit-and-run crash occurred at an intersection in Athens.
According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident happened at the intersection of College Station Road and East Campus Road. A student at the college was traveling in the area when her vehicle was struck at the intersection by another vehicle. The driver of that vehicle then fled the scene of the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The student, who has not yet been formally identified, sustained injuries in the accident. They are expected to make a recovery.
Due to the severity of the accident, the intersection was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene. It is not known if the responsible party was found by police.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
