Atlanta, GA (December 24, 2021) – On Friday afternoon, December 24, a multi-vehicle collision took place on a highway in Atlanta, resulting in injuries and involving at least three drivers.
Atlanta Police Department officers confirmed that the incident occurred on the westbound side of Interstate 20 around 1:30 p.m. The wreck reportedly happened near Exit 68 to Wesley Chapel Road, blocking all right lanes in the area.
Paramedics and fire crews provided treatment at the scene. One or more victims suffered injuries as a result of the accident, though the extent of their injuries is unknown.
It does appear that paramedics transported at least one victim to an area medical center via ambulance, however.
Officers collected evidence and completed the on-scene portion of their investigation by 3:00 p.m., though they are still working to piece together the events leading up to the incident. They advised drivers to take Covington Highway as an alternate route while they scrubbed the scene.
Authorities did not provide further details but the investigation continues at this time.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
