Atlanta, GA (December 19, 2021) – On Sunday morning, December 19, an officer was injured in a car accident on a highway in Atlanta.
According to Cobb County officials, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of I-285 around the area of I-75. Police confirmed that a Cobb County officer was working at the scene of a previous accident at the time. A motorist who was traveling in the area began to negotiate a curve in the roadway and started to lose control, slamming into the Cobb County officer’s vehicle.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The officer, who has not yet been formally identified, was seriously injured in the collision. He was taken to Wellstar-Kennestone Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene. This led to delays for some time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
