Atlanta, GA (January 10, 2022) – On Monday morning, January 10, a pedestrian accident with injuries took place at an intersection in Atlanta.
Atlanta Police reported that the collision happened around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of J.W. Dobbs Avenue and Piedmont Avenue. An unidentified pedestrian was walking in the area when they suddenly started to cross the street at the intersection. This is when they were struck by a passenger vehicle traveling through the intersection. It is believed that the vehicle that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene.
Paramedics and numerous other Atlanta responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was seriously injured in the accident. They were rushed to the hospital, though their current condition is not known.
A right lane of traffic was closed in the area for some time, which led to delays in the downtown Atlanta area throughout rush hour this morning.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
Pedestrian Accidents in Georgia
Georgia has been doing everything in its power to become more pedestrian-friendly over previous years, especially in cities. However, despite these efforts, pedestrian accidents continue to occur on increasing levels. In just 2018 alone, it was reported that approximately 260 pedestrians were killed and hundreds more were injured in Georgia pedestrian accidents. The truth is, many pedestrian accidents can be prevented when drivers pay close attention to the roads around them. After one of these accidents, your main focus should be on your physical recovery and getting back to normal life. Having an attorney on your side can be beneficial during these difficult times.
Pedestrians have no protection in the event of an accident, which means that the harm that they sustain in a collision could be incredibly severe. In fact, some of the most severe injuries stem from these accidents, including some of the following:
- Traumatic brain injuries
- Organ damage
- Broken bones
- Spinal cord injuries
Drivers who strike pedestrians tend to deny liability in these claims, which can make a claim even more complicated. This is why, as an injured pedestrian, you should speak with an Atlanta personal injury attorney who has your best interests in mind.
