Augusta, GA – Driver Killed in Fatal Head-on Collision on Troupe St

Augusta, GA (December 29, 2021) – Police confirmed that a fatal head-on collision occurred on a roadway in Augusta on Wednesday, December 29.

Officials with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office reported that the collision happened at 5:46 p.m. at 1500 Troupe Street near the area of Kissingbower Road. Two vehicles were allegedly headed in different directions in the area when one lost control, traveling into the other lane of traffic. This caused the vehicles to collide head-on with each other, leading to extensive damages.

Numerous responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to assist those involved in the accident. A 42-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. The other driver involved in the accident sustained minor injuries but is expected to recover.

Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the roadway was blocked for a period of time.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
