Bloomingdale, GA (November 17, 2021) – On Wednesday night, November 17, four people were killed in a fatal truck crash in Bloomingdale.
According to Chatham County officials, the accident happened at the intersection of GA-204 and Old River Road. A semi-truck was allegedly driving in the area when the truck crashed into a van full of construction workers after entering the intersection. The workers in the van were just leaving work from a nearby site. Police confirmed that the van was struck in the passenger’s side and was severely damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Multiple people were ejected from the van. Four people were pronounced dead from inside the van. They have since been identified as a 27-year-old male driver, a 48-year-old passenger, a 19-year-old passenger, and a 21-year-old passenger.
The driver of the truck remained at the scene. The 42-year-old male driver was not injured and has not been charged.
Due to the severity of the accident, all lanes of traffic at the intersection were closed down for approximately five hours.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased victims at this time.
