Cartersville, GA – Man Killed in Fatal Truck Accident on GA-20

Cartersville, GA (September 16, 2021) – At 7 a.m. on Thursday morning, September 16, a man was killed in a fatal truck accident in Cartersville.

According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on GA-20 around the area of mile marker 6. A tractor-trailer was traveling in the westbound lanes and attempted to travel through lanes of traffic. A pickup truck in the area struck the rear of the tractor-trailer when it was unable to stop in time. The vehicles both sustained heavy damages as a result.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the pickup truck, identified as a 22-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. It is not believed that anybody else was injured in the crash.

Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the highway was blocked for an extended period of time.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
