Cartersville, GA (January 6, 2022) – Around 4:22 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, January 5, a woman was killed in a fatal truck accident in Cartersville.
Cartersville Police confirmed that the accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-75 around the area of mile marker 289. A 24-year-old woman was driving her black Toyota Camry in the area when her vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer due to reasons that are not yet known. The truck went off the side of the road and the Toyota Camry stopped in the middle of the road. From there, the Camry was struck in the rear by a second tractor-trailer. The two vehicles went into the median, sustaining severe damages.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene of the collision to help those in need. The driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. It is not known if anyone sustained injuries in the accident.
Due to the severity of the collision, multiple lanes of traffic were blocked for some time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
