Cedartown, GA – Fatal Truck Accident at Fairgrounds Rd & GA-1

Cedartown, GA (September 12, 2021) – On Friday afternoon, September 10, a fatal truck accident occurred at an intersection in Cedartown.

According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Fairgrounds Road and GA-1. An 84-year-old man was driving his pickup truck in the area when he was struck by a tractor-trailer truck at the intersection. The driver of the tractor-trailer allegedly swerved to avoid the pickup truck but was unable to avoid the accident. The tractor-trailer rolled onto its side after the accident.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the pickup truck was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.

The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time until police were able to clear the roadway.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
