Columbus, GA – Fatal Pedestrian Accident at Victory Dr Near Marathon Dr

Columbus, GA (December 3, 2021) – On Thursday evening, December 2, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred near an intersection in Columbus.

According to Columbus Police, the accident happened on Victory Drive around the area of Marathon Drive. A man who regularly walked in the area was crossing the street in the westbound lanes of traffic when he was suddenly struck by a vehicle traveling in the area. The area was not very well-lit at the time of the accident.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The male pedestrian was traumatically injured in the accident. He was tragically pronounced dead at Piedmont Columbus Regional that same morning.

The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time following the collision. Police have said that no charges are to be expected at this time.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
