Fort Oglethorpe, GA (December 25, 2021) – Authorities have released more information after a pedestrian accident that happened on Thursday evening, December 23, in Fort Oglethorpe.
A 75-year-old Catoosa County man was hit and killed near a Golden Corral in the auto-pedestrian accident on Battlefield Parkway, said a spokesperson for the Georgia State Patrol.
Dalton authorities responded to the area around 6:45 p.m. and say that the man was attempting to cross from the north side of Battlefield Parkway to the Golden Corral restaurant on the opposite side.
As the pedestrian was crossing, a 55-year-old man driving a 2007 Jeep Liberty struck the man in the left lane of the roadway.
EMS rushed the victim to an area medical center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing, and police are still working to piece together the events leading up to the accident.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim.
