Fort Valley, GA (November 11, 2021) – Around 8 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, November 11, a fatal house fire occurred in Fort Valley.
According to Crawford County officials, the incident took place at 2700 GA-341 around the area of Cactus Hill Road and Horne Road. A fire broke out in a single-wide mobile home that was recently remodeled. Fire crews are not sure what caused the fire to start but said that the fire quickly engulfed the home. It took them some time to bring it under control.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Two people inside the home, identified as a 99-year-old woman and an 84-year-old man were pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
The area was blocked off for an extended period of time as fire crews worked to bring the fire under control.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the fire continues.
