Garden City, GA (December 27, 2021) – At 7 a.m. on Monday morning, December 27, a train accident with serious injuries occurred in Garden City.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident happened on the train tracks around the area of Big Hill Road. A pickup truck was traveling in the area when they attempted to cross the railroad tracks. Their vehicle was suddenly struck by a train on the bed of the truck as they were crossing the tracks. The vehicle was extensively damaged as a result of the collision.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the truck, who has not yet been formally identified, was injured in the accident. Their condition is not known at this time.
The roadway was blocked in the area of Big Hill Road for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
