Griffin, GA (January 12, 2022) – Police confirmed that a car accident with injuries occurred at an intersection in Griffin on Wednesday, January 12.
According to local officials in Spalding County, the accident happened at 10:34 a.m. at the intersection of GA-16 and Wild Plum Road. Two vehicles were traveling in the area when they allegedly entered the intersection at the same time, forcefully colliding with one another. The involved vehicles were badly damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Numerous responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to assist those with injuries. One or more victims were hurt in the accident. The unidentified victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
All lanes of traffic were blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time, which led to delays. Police urged those in the area to avoid the intersection until the scene was cleared.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing at this time.
