Hiram, GA – Man Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Crash at US-278 & Pace Rd

Hiram, GA (November 30, 2021) – On Tuesday, November 30, a man was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash in Hiram.

According to officials, the accident happened at the intersection of US-278 and Pace Road. It was dark outside when a man in a wheelchair attempted to cross the street. The light changed before he was completely across the street and his wheelchair got stuck. The man was then struck by a Chevy Cruze traveling through the intersection. The driver remained at the scene of the crash.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene of the accident to help those in need. The pedestrian, identified as a 55-year-old man, was thrown from his wheelchair and pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.

Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was entirely blocked in the area of the intersection for some time.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
