Hiram, GA (November 30, 2021) – On Tuesday, November 30, a man was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash in Hiram.
According to officials, the accident happened at the intersection of US-278 and Pace Road. It was dark outside when a man in a wheelchair attempted to cross the street. The light changed before he was completely across the street and his wheelchair got stuck. The man was then struck by a Chevy Cruze traveling through the intersection. Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was entirely blocked in the area of the intersection for some time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
Pedestrian Accidents in Georgia
Pedestrians are known for being some of the most at-risk parties on our roads. This is due to the fact that pedestrians have no protection from harm. Pedestrians are likely to become seriously injured or even killed in the event of a pedestrian accident. In 2018 alone, approximately 260 pedestrians were killed in accidents and many others were severely injured.
