Hogansville, GA (September 4, 2021) – Early Saturday morning, September 4, an EMT was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Hogansville.
According to police, the accident happened on I-85 in Troup County. A male EMT and his coworker were traveling in a vehicle and stopped so that they could help those involved in a car accident on the highway. While the two EMT workers were providing aid, a vehicle traveled through the area and struck the two EMTs.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The two EMTs received traumatic injuries. One was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
