Macon, GA (November 17, 2021) – On Wednesday morning, November 17, a seven-vehicle collision occurred on a major highway in Macon.
According to Macon officials, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-75 around the area of the I-16 split. Police confirmed that traffic was heavy when a driver’s vision suddenly became obscured by the sun. The driver lost control, causing a chain-reaction collision involving seven vehicles. The vehicles involved, identified as a truck and several passenger vehicles, were extensively damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Several people sustained injuries as a result of the accident. Their conditions are not yet known but the parties are expected to be okay.
Due to the severity of the accident, all lanes of traffic were blocked for several hours as police cleared the scene. This led to delays in the area.
