Marietta, GA – Grandmother Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Delk Rd

Marietta, GA (November 17, 2021) – At 8:50 p.m. on the night of Tuesday, November 16, a grandmother was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Marietta.

According to Marietta Police, the accident happened on Delk Road. A 58-year-old grandmother was attempting to cross the road with her grandchildren who are in elementary school. The grandmother was suddenly struck by a vehicle that was traveling in the area. The driver continued driving after the accident.

Approximately 30 minutes later, a 63-year-old man contacted police and confirmed that he believed he struck something on Delk Road. He allegedly found damage to his vehicle when he arrived home.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The grandmother was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The grandchildren were not injured in the collision.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the grandmother was taken into custody. He has since been charged with felony hit-and-run but additional charges could be expected.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
