Rocky Face, GA (January 28, 2022) – One person was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash that took place on Thursday night, January 27.
According to Whitfield County officials, the accident happened around 9:33 p.m. on GA-3 around the area of Webb Way. Police confirmed that an adult pedestrian was walking across the road when they were suddenly struck by a Hyundai Genesis that was traveling in the area. The driver, identified as a 44-year-old woman, was not injured and remained at the scene.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has not yet been formally identified, was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes of traffic in the area as police worked to clear the scene. This led to delays until the scene was fully cleared.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
Pedestrian Accidents in Georgia
Pedestrian accidents have been increasing on our roads over the years even though drivers have been urged to prevent these accidents at all costs. Because pedestrians have no protection from harm, they are more likely to become injured or killed in accidents than many other parties who navigate our roads. Hundreds of pedestrians actually lose their lives every year in Georgia due to the reckless acts of others. In 2020 alone, it was reported that approximately 273 pedestrians were killed and many others were injured in Georgia pedestrian accidents. If you have lost a loved one in a fatal pedestrian accident, you should have the assistance of an attorney on your side.
