Savannah, GA – Update: Fatal Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident on Ogeechee Rd

Savannah, GA (November 27, 2021) – On Tuesday night, November 23, a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident occurred in Savannah that took the life of a victim. Police have since identified the pedestrian involved.

According to police, the accident happened on Ogeechee Road around the area of Buckhalter Road. A yellow sports car was traveling in the area when the driver suddenly struck a pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle did not stop at the scene to wait for police or help.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, identified as a 46-year-old man from Savannah, was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.

The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for a period of time. Police did not say if they found the driver responsible for the accident or what charges are expected.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
