Waynesboro, GA (December 20, 2021) – On Monday afternoon, December 20, a fatal truck accident occurred on a major roadway in Waynesboro.
According to Burke County officials, the accident happened on US-25 around the area of Airport Road and McMaster Road. A vehicle was traveling in the southbound lanes of traffic when it struck a tractor-trailer in the area due to reasons that are not yet known. The vehicle then overturned and immediately burst into flames.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One victim, identified only as a child, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two adults were injured as a result of the accident. One other child was taken to Burke Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
Due to the severity of the accident, both northbound and southbound lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for some time.
